The term does not appear in the Webster's New World Dictionary of 1988, nor in the Random Dictionary of 1987, nor in the "Lexique anglais-français du Commerce et Développement" des Nations Unies (Genève, 1988). It is given in the 1980 issue of Harrap's as "négociateur". It is used in the department of foreign trade, namely the one of balance of payments, according to the Translators' Bureau of the Secretariate of State.
