( so important the case is that the answerer`s reply is appreciated . so There is not just a matter of asking for a simple opinion).The answerer might be in a so high a postition as to be asked about her/his judgement.

: IMO "I would (be) appreciate(d) it" here is simply a polite way to say "let me know" - it *is* just a matter of asking for a simple opinion. "Impression/judgement" is the right idea but I'm not sure it works here.
