English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering printing machine
Connect the suction/return assembly to the circulator (black hoses for UV and transparent for water based coating - ¾”)

Does the "/" mean "and" or "or" here?

another possibility

Another way of looking at it is not to view it as an option between suction assembly and return assembly.

Instead, it is also possible that the assembly is only one, which perhaps has a dual function of either suction or return. In which case the entire phrase "suction/return assembly" is a single entity which is to be connected to the circulator.

Only context can make clear whether this is the actual meaning intented.

The assembly in question may serve both purposes, but if it doesn't, you should connect whichever one you think appropriate for what you're using the machine for.
