Hello Rachel ... I can't use ruffles ... they come in all over the place everywhere else and they're not at all the same (volants, for example). our picture is not bad at all, except that the trim is gathered lengthewise, parallel with the buttons of the shirt :-)

Don't know how to get a picture to you. That would be a nice feature for ProZ, wouldn't it?
I'll try to describe it again. It looks like a sleeveless shirt top with a plunging V-neck and collar, buttoned down the front. On both sides, running down from the collar and over the boobs almost to the bottom of the shirt, you have these 'vertiges'like a thick open-ended necklace .

yes but it is Gathered? They are making the empire cut with a Trim below which the material has been sewn in gathers [or gathered] into the bias-cut trim...

the problem here is to get a basic picture of the thing; it;s either empire cut with a trim below the boobs..or it is made of strips of cloth cut on the biais...cheers..without a picture, that's it

Yes, it's very frilly and overloaded ... looks a bit like what you put round the bottom of a lampshade I think ... not really my style!

agree Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : yes and there are not Bindings...sorry to belabor it but really...these tops don't have bindings...though they do have Frilly Trim...

Thannk you Jane - perhaps what's being referred to is bias binding, as I've seen clothes with this sort of decration and the "frill/ruffle" is sometimes made of bias binding material, thin cotton
