German term

fest im Programm verdrahtet (fest programmiert)

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software
it refers to a field in a selection screen which cannot be altered. I don't want to use 'default setting', though

Many thanks

protected text area

Lotus Notes uses this to describe the area of their screen that cannot be altered by the user.

Of course, if you have more than text there, you may have to alter the 'text' bit or leave it out altogether.
