This, of course, poses some problems as the term is already used previously with Grundkurse, so maybe "non subject-specific" could be used instead.

for my two cents worth, I almost agree with the the suggestion of ncs1, but with the difference that I think that 'interdiziplinär' is an English loan word (which means that it is very fashionable for titles), but the good German synonym 'fachübergreifend' is used in the description. To keep close to the original content, you could use something like '..., the interdisciplinary basic course is intended to train the students in considering problems in a larger perspective'. ('cross-disciplinary' may well be used, but I find it inferior English.)
