Turkish term
şuur
Turkish to English
Medical
Medical (general)
coma/vegetative state
"Şuur ve beyin için Adana’da bitkisel ilaçlar yaptırılmıș…,” is the phrase which appears in the document. The individual in question has been in a coma, and even herbal remedies have been tried in order to bring the patient around. "Şuur ve beyin" seems redundant to me. Is it "mind and body?" Please advise.

Comment: "Thank you very much. I think "consciousness" makes the most sense, given the context and the fact that the person has been in a coma."

Note from asker:
"Conscience" means something entirely different in English: the inner sense of right and wrong, or a person's ethical/moral center. Did you mean "consciousness," which means "the state of being conscious, aware of one's surroundings, etc."? Thanks very much for your reply. |

Well, other answers are just right about "şuur" which correctly means "consciousness", however, what it is meant here that mind and brain. In fact, original text is meaningless and absurd. I would not buy anyting with this kind of advertisement.
Note from asker:
My apologies. "Mind and body" was a typo on my part. I meant to say "mind and brain." Thank you very much for your reply. |

: Even though I agreed with "consciousness" earlier, I believe "mind" is the exact meaning for the meaning requested. And I agree, the original text is a good sample of absurd and bad practice of Turkish.

: since "the individual in question has been in coma", it seems obvious that the usage of "şuur" is correct; mind covers both the consciousness and unconsciousness
