Whoops, you're right! Thanks for the additional context. I think "magisterio" must be "Magisterium,"; then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magisterium

Hi Joshua I'm not so sure that this is about school teachers as it refers to La Seo, which is a cathedral. Urbán de Vargas was a composer and chapel master, and was working as such at this time, circa 16th century.
