Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Italian term or phrase:
disinnescare la pompa
English translation:
to unprime the pump
Italian term
disinnescare
"Le bolle d'aria nella testa della pompa producono una riduzione del quantitativo di solvente (errore nei volumi di ritenzione e quindi nei tempi di ritenzione) e possono **disinnescare** la pompa, se il volume delle bolle d'aria è elevato."
Would this be "....and can deprime the pump",...?
Thanks all

: Love the quotes Gian, especially: which made it a complete pain in the ass to fix ;-)

I too laughed... ; it's a coloured expression, isn't it?

can give way to a malfunctioning of the pump
de-prime
o anche "de-priming" o "loss of priming"
I found just a handful of relevant hits on google (lfor "de-prime", imit the search to english, otherwise you'll find a lot of french sites, and search it as 2 words, in quotes) but I think it's readily understood (and the second of Jo's references gives "re-prime", so why not "de-prime"?
After all you don't find many hits "re-innesco" in Italian, but is used and understandable

: Hi Alfredo. Yep I think you could use that, but I just upped the stake with my latest comment. Am I allowed to disagree with myself? ;-)

yes, as long as it is helpful to the asker... - but you should go in front of the nearest mirror and say something suitabily stern to yourself, methinks... :-) and your solution sounds probably better, too... !

I think maybe cavitate is better here

pump cavitation
1. n. [Well Workover and Intervention] ID: 4725
A condition affecting an operating pump whereby the pump space is not fully charged with fluid being pumped. Pump cavitation may result from inadequate or restricted supply or from the introduction of air or gas into the fluid stream. The effect of cavitation depends on the type of pump. However, in most cases, it is an undesirable condition that causes a reduction in pump efficiency and excessive wear or damage to pump components.

Recovering From Pump Cavitation
General Cautions
It cannot be stressed enough of the need to perform the four steps exactly as stated for emptying the condensate tanks. If you do not, a pump may cavitate.
Preparing to Re-Prime the Pumps
To re-prime the pump, you must turn off the vacuum to the tanks (and to the system).

Found another answer, am I allowed to disagree with myself?
;-)
loss of prime
Too much air can lead to a loss of prime, and the pump’s efforts to re-prime can make noise as well.
Lots of uses here:

: I think that cavitation is a more general phenomen than "loss of priming" (and may be less detrimental to pump flow)

Yep, just to confuse Kpi I'm changing my answer to "loss of prime" Are you allowed to do that?
