Another suggestion.

A slightly more colloquial rendering.
You may need to play about with the tense to fit the rest of your text.
"limiter la casse".
For "limiter", you have a fair bit of leeway, but I think you might achieve a more natural result if you avoid "limit". Have a go with "restrict", "keep down, ""keep to a minimum"...
Not literal breakage but the scope of the damage caused by the strikes. Again, slightly more colloquial renderings may give something more natural to fit your text.
