A low level in the regenerator may unseal the diplegs which could result in backflow of flue gas up the diplegs and loss of catalyst fines with the flue gas.
A high level in the regenerator can also result in catalyst carryover from the cyclones because of higher entrainment from the bed and re-entrainment from the cyclone dust bowls.
The regenerator pressure is controlled by flue gas slide valve which throttles the flow of flue gas from the vessel.
