Hola, como se trata del mar, he decidido que quizás "romper (como las olas)" fuera oportuno para "dash".
En cuanto a "shiver"==>"estremecimiento",quizás algo que haga ver cierta violencia del agua contra las rocas.

Se enfureció/Rompe con furia
El sentido es que el mar, tranquilo, puede enfurecerse y las olas romper con furia contra las rocas de granito
