In ambito tecnologico (soprattutto in informatica) il termine retrocompatibilità (o compatibilità con versioni precedenti) assume una serie di significati diversi ma legati tra di loro.

Compatibilità con le versioni precedenti

I prefer this "longer" solution as it's the simplest and most used in common language. I prefer it to "compatibilità all'indietro" which is more literal.
