Όπως βλέπετε, έχω κολλήσει σε τρεις παραγράφους. Ρωτάω όλο τα ίδια και τα ίδια.
Το "they" στη φράση "... until gradually they rose" αναφέρεται στο "memories", έτσι; Το "summons" μπορεί να αποδοθεί "πρόκληση, κίνητρο";

ναι, το "they" αναφέρεται στις αναμνήσεις.
Τώρα εγώ θα έλεγα πως οι αναμνήσεις αυτές ορθώθηκαν σιγά σιγά μέσα της απαιτητικές και αυταρχικές.
Το "summons" έχει την έννοια της απαίτησης, της εντολής (πέρα από την κλήτευση)

This is how I see it, Katerina... The images are connected… the memories rose I would say…it seems silly to have the echoes rising like an audience giving a standing ovation…therefore I would think it’s the memories rising which is a common image: “the memory arose”

με κύρος και αυθεντία
to "it" anaferetai ontos sto memories (apo oso vlepo ki ego).
Αυτοί οι απόηχοι ενθάρρυναν τις σιωπηλές της μνήμες έως ότου αυτές φούσκωσαν μέσα της και γέμισαν με κύρος και αυθεντία.

και κανονικά το summons σημαίνει δικαστική κλήση αλλά επειδή χρησιμοποιείται και σε σκηνές (κλασικές) με τον δικαστή να δείχνει τον κατηγορούμενο με το σφυράκι και με ύφος \"την έβαψες\" :) γιαυτό προτίμησα την απόδοση που σου έδωσα...
