Students examine some of the practice that many manufacturing operations have come to rely on to make their operations competitive, efficient, and cost-effective. Principles of lean manufacturing, value versus non-value added waste, 5S’s value system mapping, set-up reduction and quick changeover, cellular flow, building a lean culture, total productive maintenance, pull kanban, value/supply chain management, computer numerical control, robotics, group technology, and flexible manufacturing systems are examined.

Je pense que la question n'est pas tellement sur la méthode du kanban, notion bien connue et détaillée dans les réponses précédentes, mais sur le "pull".
Le pilotage par l'aval ou "pull" est une méthode de gestion en fabrication juste (lean manufacturing) pour que chaque étape dépende de la demande en aval (et donc en dernier ressort des commandes des clients).
