Lv or Luu
Hi Xiaoran,
The more common one would be "Lv" but my Nanjing Star program recognises "Luu" too. Below are some examples taken from the internet:
人文网页学者文集. 吕永基( Luu Yong Ji, Lui Wing Kei )
京剧经典大观 吕布与雕蝉Peking Opera Classic: Luu Bu and Diao Chan
ps: One of my favourite ex-students, 吕利敏, spells her English name as "Lv Limin".

For Lv: http://cn.netor.com/wjx/frame.asp?id=96&name=吕; www.zsu.edu.cn/2003new/call2.htm; www.emss.org.cn/eng/exread.asp?id=Z00000024
For Luu: media.minghui.org/gb/case/lvliangui0807.html (\"Luu\" seems to be more common in Vietname)
\"Lyu\" seems to be more common in Taiwan.

I guess now you have to find out where this 吕 person is from... :p

: I just learned something from you. You use Nanji Star? Do you know the CH input systems came with the Windows 2000 and XP?

Lyu
This may be a solution.
According to Pinyin Plan, 雨 = yu. The German Umlaut for "yu" is used only when it is not stand alone. But in your case, the only way to avoid the Umlaut.
