Same scam Apr 24

I received the exact same email by the same person.

Hi eveybody, I had the same experience a few days ago, receiving an e-mail from a certain Roberto Braska working for COMM & INTERM LLP a non Proz.com user. The company has been registered in England since January 2024 but has no concrete references. The owners of the company are Spanish nationals whose identity is registered in England under number OC450685. Freely consultable. In the event of a scam, it is possible to take legal action against them before a Spanish court.
Here is the text of the e-mail I received:

Same here, can we report them here someway even if they are not ProZ.com members? Apr 24

I received this exact same mail yesterday, with a deadline for today, I sent my CV anyway and received the second e-mail with the file and the details of the cryptocurrency from this fella, Roberto Braksa.
I tried to report the profile to ProZ.com but since they are not a member, I got an error. I reported the e-mail as scam.
Thank you for sharing your experiences, it was very illuminating!

Maria

Company number OC450685 in UK
I am sending you an archive with files for translation below. Files in scan format, jpg high quality. Deadline is Thursday May 2 1pm CET.
Final files required in pdf and docx formats. The translated version should be kept as close as possible to the original in terms of the style used
Payment for this task is 750(it is about 0.15 per word for 5000 words) EUR, +5% to pay off all fee for exchanging funds.
One unusual detail is that the budget is provided in cryptocurrency and this is the only way I can pay. But you don't have to worry about this, I provide full support in receiving the payment and converting it into fiat currency into your bank account or PayPal
I can do the prepayment for your safety because I am not a Proz user and new to the field. Then you can start. If you will be need help with withdraw and exchange to fiat currency I am glad to help you with it.
We understand that not everyone is familiar with the cryptocurrency field and we can help so that it doesn’t waste a lot of your time.
Let's discuss what questions you have at the moment.
Waiting for you reply!

If you’ve been in the game 30 minutes and you don’t know who the patsy is, you’re the patsy Apr 27

I sincerely hope you mean that they offered to prepay.
However, even that would be be meaningless, as prepayment is one of the oldest scams.

Has anyone tried to work with them at all?

Why would anybody sensible want to even consider working with them?

Read back through the thread.
All the red flags are there: same offer from multiple different names (!), use of free email, telegram, crypto...

If you can't see that these are problems, then you are the problem.
Scammers depend on you ignoring those red flags and thinking "You know what? It might be okay."
Sure. It might be okay, until it isn't.
Then your time or your money's gone, and you're sad.

But by all means try it and see.

If it goes well, you can come back here and wave your wad of newly earned cash triumphantly in our faces.

Dan

I just asked if anyone has worked with them. Apr 27

Hey Dan, the only thing I asked is if anyone has worked with them. I don’t think there was any reason of being rude about it. I just had a sincere question. Thanks for being kind and answering to my query , even if it was a disrespectful answer.

Yes, but why? Apr 27

Anamaria Roukas wrote:

Anamaria, it's the implications of your question that are worrying.
Threads like this exist in part to encourage people not to engage with scammers.
Your question suggested that you were scam-curious. Don't be!
