Hi. First of all, I have to apologize because I opened a thread three years ago and never replied to the interesting suggestions. I don't know how to link it properly here, but here's the link: ... See more
I guess I just got overwhelmed and kinda forgot about it. Over the years, I've realized that I don't really need a CAT tool or anything fancy. What I really need is simply the ability to search for words and sentences though hundreds of MS Word documents, to see how I handled that particular translation. Yes, Windows Search does that, but it kinda stinks (at least mine, Windows 7).
I know this probably doesn't exist but my ideal solution would be a MS Word plugin that does the following: when you select text and right-click it, you have an option to "search for matches" (or something similar), which searches that particular piece of text through several different MS Word documents inside your PC. In the plugin settings, you previously would've chosen the specific folders in which to perform the search. And not only this: unlike Windows Search, which basically just tells you "I think this word appears somewhere in this document", this magical plugin would show you, right there inside MS Word, a preview of the specific segments of the documents in which the text appears, so that you wouldn't even have to waste time opening documents.
However, accepting the sad reality (this probably doesn't exist), is there anything remotely close to this even if it means having to download and install a search program?
I have been using the tool "Seekfast" : https://seekfast.org/ I find it very useful when I have to use any specific word within hundred's of Word documents or even within a single Word document.
There are many others but I specifically find this tool very useful.
Thanks.

Thanks. Do you know if this program can find full sentences within quotation marks?

Thanks for the suggestion! Looks interesting. I've written them to ask whether they can support TMX too.
