It seems to be a good idea to me to notify the asker when an answerer makes his answer hidden
Pamela, I can see all of them | Sep 10, 2003 |
Hi Pamela,
none of those questions were squashed. I can see all of them.
I don't understand why an asker should receive a notification for an hidden answer: once (s)he is ready to grade, (s)he'll have to navigate to the question and realize which answers are still available.
My 2 cents,

It sounds to me like being evaluated in an examination for what you erased.

I still can't see them, but I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. I just hope it doesn't happen when is a KudoZ question I post. And you know, I haven't heard yet what is it that causes for some of us to see a blank page where there should be a KudoZ question.

Denis Kiselev Russian Federation Local time: 08:43 English to Russian + ... Data must not disappear tracelessly | Sep 10, 2003 |

Look this way. When an answer is posted, you receive a notification that there's an answer to your question. When an answer is chosen everyone receives a notification the question is graded. But when an answer is hidden, noone except for the answerer knows why it disappeared. A very confusing situation to me: I knew there were N answers to my question, but when I go to it's page I see only N-1. Where did one more get? Is it a bug or a feature? What should I think as an asker? What if it was the only answer? There was one, but somehow there's none again. Why? The asker can only guess.
I'm not saying a hidden answer should be visible to anyone but the answerer. Nor I'm saying it should be available for grading.
I'm just saying data must not disappear tracelessly. This is the very basics of software design and I don't see any reasons for not applying it in this case.

Confidence bar, grading scale brought back | Nov 22, 2003 |
Thanks, Alison! (And thanks also to Bob Kerns!)
Links to 'your pairs' put back | Nov 22, 2003 |

One thing I liked about the old design was the "menu" link in the upper part of the question window.
Have you left it out on purpose in the new beta design?
An even better thing would be to have 4 links there, for "your pairs - easy", "your pairs - pro", "all pairs - easy" and "all pairs - pro".
Thanks, Dan. I put in the your pairs links, but not the all pairs. (FOr compactness and because most people stick to their own pairs.)

Asker can not peer comment anymore | Nov 22, 2003 |

This was always possible, old design too. Now I took it out. Thanks!
Glossary entry by answerer works again | Nov 22, 2003 |

When I got email notifications that the asker did not enter my answer into the glossary and I was offered to enter it (via clicking on the link in the email), I could not find the box in the new KudoZ design.
Only when I switched back to the old design it suddenly appeared. This happened 2 times, and I am not sure whether it's my blind spot or the programs..
The program! I *think* I fixed it -- let me know if you see it again!
Can edit responses to peer comments | Nov 22, 2003 |
Rowan Morrell wrote:
I hope this is the right thread to post this idea. It's great that peer graders can edit their comments in KudoZ Beta (and I like the way edited comments appear after the original ones now). But shouldn't answerers also have the ability to update their responses to peer grades? Surely if you're peer graded, respond, and the peer grader makes a new comment, you should be able to make a new response to the additional comment accordingly.
Right, Rowan, thanks for catching that inconsistency. It is possible now. (The person who entered the peer comment will also (optionally) get notified of changes made.)
