Message:Brazilian Portuguese vs. European Portuguese: are they really all that different?
If one is talking about formal, literary written Portuguese language, the difference(s) should be minor across the world.
Spoken Portuguese is where variat...ion in language structure and grammar abounds.
In reference to both, (Br. Portuguese and Eu. Portuguese), one could ask if two could just become one if there were going to be compromises from both sides. I doubt that this will ever happen.
For example: Translating the sentence from English to Portuguese:
''Let's cook some potatoes''
Is it?
Vamos a cozer (as) batatas.
ou?
Vamos a cozer (as) batatinhas.
