Bio
My career has been a multifold path. After undergraduate studies in 1993, I was selected among the best graduates to be an instructor of English at the University of HoChiMinh City. As an English teacher and practitioner at this institution, I have honed my skills of translation and interpretation through my courses and my studies of translation theory. I am happy to have helped train an army of young and talented translators in Southern Vietnam.

From July 1995 to August 2000, along with my regular teaching, I worked as a translator, interpreter and editor for the HoChiMinh City-based Fulbright Economics Training Program. There, my major specializations were microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics, development finance, public finance, and project appraisal and risk analysis. I also provided freelance interpretation services for various training programs and seminars held by UNDP, the World Bank, MPDF, WHO, Harvard University, among others.

Between 1999 and 2000, I served as a part-time consultant to the Center for Foreign Affairs And Language Training (CEFALT), affiliated to HoChiMinh City Office of Vietnam?s Foreign Ministry. There, I designed the core curriculum for Advanced English courses, and English with a Focus in International Relations Program, taught Translation & Interpretation, English for Diplomacy, Media English, and tested English proficiency of applicants to various international agencies such as UNDP.

Apart from those, for more than a decade, I have been a freelance writer and translator for Vietnam's biggest tri-monthly magazine "Kien Thuc Ngay Nay" (Today Knowledge), to which my contributions include reviews of the world's current political and socio-economic trends. My writings (as a hobby, I should say) have also been printed in various Vietnam?s publications including Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper, Saigon Tiep Thi (Saigon Marketing), Saigon Times Daily, Thoi Bao Kinh Te Saigon (Saigon Economic Times), Vietnam Investment Review, and The Thao Tp.HCM (Hochiminh City Sports). The professional expertise and experience from my jobs supported the writing and editing of several books I have so far published. Many of my books center around the translation profession.

In 2000, as a Fulbright Fellowship grantee, I had great chances to further develop my aptitudes through my graduate studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. After finishing my masters degree, I worked as a research associate at Harvard University (John F. Kennedy School of Government). I was working on a project to design development finance courses to be taught to mid-career public policy students in Vietnam. I also studied and evaluated comparable experiences in developing financial and stock markets in Asia, especially mechanisms to raise and allocate funds in Thailand, China, and Hong Kong.

In early 2004, I joined Asia Commercial Bank, Vietnam's largest private bank, as Senior Manager of International Relations Department.

Currently I am teaching finance and business at Ryerson University and Cambridge Institute of Science and Technology in Toronto, Canada.
