My name is Michael Rosendal. I am a freelance Danish-English-Japanese translator native to Denmark.

My professional foundation is a 4-year bachelor’s degree that was focused on linguistics in learning the Japanese language, and translation practice underpinned the education. I have worked with language in marketing for industry-leading companies in the fields of search engines and machine learning. Furthermore, I have also worked extensively with transcription and subtitling for such companies with the goal of bettering automated captioning. In my freelance career I have always worked with language and sporadically with translation in numerous ways. I consider technical, marketing and literary translation to be my core domains, but I am always welcoming of opportunities to meet new professional challenges and widening my skill set.

• I am highly sensitive to context, which is crucial in good translation and localization. In my work on search engines, it was a constant requirement to be able to quickly research and familiarize with new concepts in niche contexts.
• I am quality-focused; I know when to second-guess myself, and I pride myself on my attention to detail. I have often been trusted to review and proofread others' work, and I have done final quality assurance of major projects.

I have a strong interest and honed skill in the art of expression, and I believe this shows in my work as a translator. I have also studied, worked and lived abroad for extended periods, which has given me both a deep appreciation and understanding of the challenges in mediating language. I work as a full-time freelancer, which means I’m available throughout the business day and open to ongoing projects.
