Source text - English Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.
Translation - Urdu زرا اس نقطے کو ایک بار پھر سے دیکھیں، یہ ہمارا گھر ہے، یہ ہم ہی ہیں، اس چھوٹے سے نکتے پر ہر وہ انسان جس سے آپ محبت کرتے ہیں، ہر وہ شخص جس کے بارے میں آپ جانتے ہیں، ہر وہ شخص جسے آپ نے سن رکھا ہے یا جس کے بارے میں کبھی سن رکھا ہے، ہر وہ انسان جو کبھی زندہ تھا اس نے اس پر اپنی زندگی بسر کی ہے، ہر خوشی اور غم جس کا ہم نے سامنا کیا، ہزاروں پُر اعتماد مذاہب، نظریات اور معاشی نظام، ہر شکاری اور شکار، ہر بہادر اور بزدل، انسانی تہذیب کے تخلیق کار اور تخریب کار، ہر جاگیردار اور مزارع، محبت میں گرفتار ہر جوان جوڑا، ہر ماں اور باپ، امنگوں سے بھرپور ہر بچہ، ہر موجد اور کھوجی، اخلاقیات کا ہر داعی، نظامِ سیاست کا ہر داغی اور بد عنوان سیاستدان، ہر سپر سٹار، ہر سپریم لیڈر، ہر نیکو کار اور ہر بدکار انسان نے سورج کی روشنی میں معلق اس بے رنگ نیلے دھبے پر اپنی زندگی بسر کی ہے۔
کائنات کی وسیع نقطہ نگاہ سے ہماری زمین ایک چھوٹا سا سٹیج ہے۔ ذرا سوچئے خون کی ان ندیوں کے بارے میں جو جرنیلوں اور شہنشاہوں نے فتح پانے کے لئے بہا دی، صرف اس لئے کہ وہ اس حقیر سے نقطے کے ایک عشر عشیر سے حصے پر چند پل کے لیے شان و شوکت سے حکمرانی کر سکے، ذرا اس بے تحاشہ ظلم و ستم کے متعلق سوچئے جو اس نقطے کے ایک کونے میں موجود رہائشیوں نے دوسرے کونے پر موجود اپنے سے کچھ ہی مختلف دوسرے انسانوں پر ڈھائے۔ ان میں کتنی غلط فہمیاں ہیں، یہ کیسے ایک دوسرے کے خون کے پیاسے ہیں، ان میں کتنی شدید نفرت ہے۔ ہمارے رکھ رکھاؤ، ہمارے اہم ہونے کی خام خیالی، ہماری خوش فہمیاں کہ ہم اس کائنات میں کوئی خصوصی درجہ رکھتے ہیں، ہمارے سارے دعوؤں پر اس مدھم اور مبہم سے دھبے کی اس تصویر نے سوالات اٹھا دیے ہیں۔ کائنات کے اس بے کراں اندھیرے میں یہ اپنے طرز کا اکیلا زرہ ہے۔ ایک وسیع خلا اور ہمارا مبہم سا وجود، کہیں سے کوئی اشارہ بھی نہیں مل رہا کہ کوئی آ کر ہمیں ہمارے اپنے ہی ہاتھوں برباد ہونے سے بچائے گا۔ اب تک سائنس دانوں کو سوائے زمین کے کوئی سیارہ ایسا نہیں مل پایا جس پر زندگی کا وجود ممکن ہو سکے۔ کم از کم مستقبل قریب میں بھی کوئی ایسا ٹھکانہ نہیں جہاں ہم ہجرت کر سکیں، ہاں ہم جا ضرور سکتے ہیں مگر آباد نہیں ہو سکتے۔ ہم چاہیں یا نا چاہیں مگر ہمیں یہیں پر بسنا ہے۔ اسی لئے کہا جاتا ہے کہ فلکیات انسان کو عاجزی سکھاتی ہے اور کردار سنوارتی ہے۔ تصویر میں دکھائی دینے والا معمولی سا نقطہ ہماری احمقانہ گھمنڈ کی عمدہ مثال ہے۔ میرے خیال میں یہ نقطہ ہمیں ذمہ داریوں کا احساس دلاتا ہے کہ ہم کیسے ایک دوسرے سے مہربانی سے پیش آئے اور کیسے اس 'نیلے مدھم نقطے' کی حفاظت کرے کیونکہ اب تک کی دستیاب تحقیق کے مطابق یہی ہمارا واحد گھر ہے۔"
