For nearly 25 years worked as a translator in a major chemical, textile and food products company (CUF, afterwards renamed QUIMIGAL E.P., Lisbon). Many reports and articles translated there from a great variety of technical, social, business, economics and financial periodicals and journals, etc. (from english-french-italian-spanish-german languages into european portuguese). Specifically: chemical engineering, food products, medicine, biology, economics and social development, social sciences (sociology, demography, etc.) After having graduated in business management, worked in same company as an economics and financial assistant. Has worked and still works also (intermittently as portuguese is not an official language of the UN) for a restricted number of bodies of the United Nations as a freelance, self-employed, translator.
Translated a number of literary works for local book publishers ("Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw, for instance). Since 1989 has been working as an independent freelance translator for the European Commission, Brussels and Luxembourg. Currently working also for the European Parliament through a local translations agency. English language studies at the British Institute, Lisbon (Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language, Cambridge University) and at the Higher Institute for Languages and Business Management (Instituto Superior de Linguas e Administracao, Lisbon).
