Perhaps I expressed myself badly: I meant "more in its sense of activity than of insistence". But yes, I have then taken a couple of steps away.

I basically agree with the other translations my colleagues have offered except that their versions include words, which while possibly implied, are not actually stated in the source text. For me it would be better to leave the implied words untranslated since, in this case, it won't obscure the meaning and will hold closer to the source text.
