Puesto que el contexto en que aparece el término es bien limitado proporciono información similar que encontré en la web:

En este municipio fueron 146 familias beneficiadas, quienes recibieron gallinas ponedoras, cerdos reproductores y ovejas pelibuey.

Simplemente me parece que 'module of minor species' es un poco literal y ambiguo; no obstante me gustaría leer la opinión de los demás colegas.

“Minor species” are all animals other than humans that are not one of the major species. They include animals such as zoo animals, ornamental fish, parrots, ferrets, and guinea pigs. The text appears to be talking about breeder kits of small animals. Perhaps you could rearrange it, possibly along the lines of "backyard livestock kits" to make it more meaningful.
