German term

ein gutes Auftreten

This is from a work reference for somebody working in the field of tree preservation. I'm not sure what is meant by 'Auftretten' here. I need something more meaningful than 'good manner' It just seems to fall flat here in English. Could I perhaps use "professional manner."

thank you! yes, impeccable or flawless manners.
disagree Cilian O'Tuama : that'd be sth. like gutes Benehmen, which is sth. different altogether.
3 hrs
neutral Armorel Young : as Cilian says, it's nothing at all to do with manners - manner possibly, but manners is entirely different

social skills/stage presence

I think that's the general idea, but you can also say "good public appearance".

I'd say something along the lines: "Her high professional expertise is emphasized by her excellent social skills and stage presence"

agree Henry Whittlesey Schroeder : Hi Kim, this is what makes Ingrid's suggestion so phenomenal - in all these discussions the idea of translating Auftreten, which everyone sees a million times, with "presence" never occured to anyone once!!!

agree Helen Shiner : A well-honed public persona or use of glossaries
