Never posted on Proz forum, so my apologies If this isn't the right place:
I applied for a job that was posted here, I was contacted back by the agency and I took their test. Days later, I received a profile mail from another agency about the same job, but the pay was lower. They asked me If I meet the requirements and was interested, then I should email them back and send them my CV.

I applied for a job that was posted here, I was contacted back by the agency and I took their test. Days later, I received a profile mail from another agency about the same job, but the pay was lower. They asked me If I meet the requirements and was interested, then I should email them back and send them my CV.
After I did that, a less than day later they sent me an email saying that I was selected to join their team. Sending me a link to a profile they created for me on their website, and has all my information, and they sent me an NDA to sign.
After signing the NDA, I was ghosted. No information about the job on their task tab. No communication from their side, no nothing.
I contacted them twice, and I didn't hear back.
To me, this isn't right because:
A: I never gave them my permission and my consent to use and upload my information on their website.
B: I signed up for a specific project that I assume had a deadline. It's not like I simply email them, and they would contact me if there's any work for me. So where's this job?
C: It's been two weeks.

Hey, man, if I start count how many times I signed NDAs and then ghosted...
This is happening often, and I myself as you don't know why, although I have some thoughts, but I wouldn't share.
The only advice from this forum is to move on, like you were ghosted by some chick and not by some company, which is a huge difference.

I'm afraid you cannot insist that they communicate with you once you have registered with them, or even if you have done work with them.
Everything happens on a one-off basis, continuity of order flows is unusual and cannot be assumed, and transparency on the part of the agency is not something that can be enforced.
This thread began from a similar premise. It didn't go well.
Unfortunately, this is indeed how it is in the industry, at least for low-quality agencies.

Being polite takes time which costs money. Can't have that.

Or maybe the end client asked more than one agency about the project?
And they selected a cheaper option (hence the 2nd offer for less money)

Unfortunately, this is not the first and it won't be the last example.
Last year - I don't think I've ever received so many emails about potential jobs - and the vast majority didn't materialise into any collaboration.
I have to say that I even filled in a form for a tender and my last email to the translation agency asking for news had no effect.
At the moment, I don't know anything about that tender, although apparently the agency won it.

This agency is registered here on Proz. The thing is, there's another agency from the same country that carries almost the same name. And there are other agencies that are also from the same country. And they all post the very same type of projects. And what they all have in common apart from that is the number of entries (around 50) that's only been consistent past couple of months.

I think the first agency that I applied to is legit. It's a big agency from different country (India). They did reply to my emails, and unfortunately I wasn't selected after taking their test (which was a stupid one full of maths and had to read texts and answer questions, then write an essay. It did not make sense to me at all. It did have a translation assessment, but It wasn't exactly the main focus). ▲ Collapse

I'm not sure. Why would they do that? I mean, weren't they supposed to compete for this project?
Either way, I'm not sure how things work exactly. But who gave anybody the right the play around with my personal information, that sending it to others or uploading it on their website? Because I didn't.
