redred,
I'm afraid there's a mistake in the translation of "Were you addressed appropriately?". Here "addressed" means "spoken to", or "greeted".
FWIW, here's an example of this usage:

(Each public speaker will have three minutes to politely address the Board.)
P.S. I hope this kind of feedback is useful, and not seen as a nuisance.

从你给的语境看来,应该是需要书面语。但最好向客户求证一下,或自己出两种文风,问对方需要哪种。我就曾经吃过亏,客户说要Cantonese,我就以为他们要普遍流行的香港书面语。可是,客户给香港方面的客户看后告诉我“This is not Cantonese”。

多谢wherestip和Last Hermit的reference.

| | | wherestip United States Local time: 07:27 Chinese to English + ... 我这是不会说广东话的广东人 | Aug 28, 2005 |

Oh, no. Not me myself. 我爸是广州人(番禺). 所以以前在国内户口本上我们籍贯填的都是广州。 再往前算,祖籍却是江浙一带了 (Or so I was told)。 也是因老祖宗当官被派到广东而迁移。 到我爸爸那代他们还都视自己为外地人。
美国这儿的老广是比较扎堆儿的。 不会粤语,到纽约 Mott Street 去玩儿都是吃不开的。
