An Introduction to Clinical Trials

You must log in before you can access most features of this event.

Schedule:This session ended at 15:25
Description:

The pharmaceutical industry continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Every day we hear about a new drug being tested or the results of a clinical trial that has just been completed. So, now is the perfect time to specialize in this ever-expanding field. This webinar series will provide participants with a solid foundation to do just that. I will discuss all of the aspects related to clinical trials, including the various types of drug molecules, pre-clinical testing, the types of clinical trial documentation and the phases drugs must pass through before they can be marketed. In addition, this series will equip participants with the knowledge of chemistry, microbiology and biotechnology required to become a successful translator/interpreter in this exciting field. In this first webinar, I would like to provide an overview of the pharmaceuticals industry as it relates to clinical trials, including where the majority of trials are (being) conducted, which types of drugs are being tested and a discussion about the phases of clinical trials. I will also present and discuss some of the technical terms that are frequently used in this domain.

Presenter Carmen Cross has made the resource list mentioned during the Q&A available. To download the handout click here

Hi Carmen, Hi everybody! Medical translations are one of the fields I work with, and often clinical trials, so I'm interested in getting more information and education to help me do a better job, and to see the big picture of clinical trials.
