Brú na Bóinne - the dwelling place of the Boyne – describes an area between the towns of Slane and Drogheda where the River Boyne meanders in dramatic loops and bends. Here lies one of the world’s most important archaeological landscapes, dominated by the spectacular prehistoric passage tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth.
The international significance of Brú na Bóinne was formally recognised in 1993 when it was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Built over 5000 years ago by Neolithic (New Stone Age) farmers, these passage tombs are truly remarkable remnants of a highly evolved society which by the 4th millennium BC, had settled widely across much of Western Europe. Both ritual and settlement were centred around these tombs, throughout the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, and Early Christian times, through the Norman invasions and beyond.
Looking northwards from the Visitor Centre, the core archaeological landscape of Brú na Bóinee comes into view. By studying the location, structure and history of its monuments, both the visible and unseen, the magnificence of this prehistoric landscape – and the extraordinary achievements of those who created it - can be appreciated

How easy credit turned risky
Low interest rates and new financial architecture planted seeds of excess
Greg Ip and Jon E. Hilsenrath
An extraordinary credit boom that created many first-time homeowners and financed a wave of corporate take-overs seems to be waning. Home buyers with poor credit are having trouble borrowing. Institutional investors from Milwaukee to Düsseldorf to Sidney are reporting losses. Banks are stuck with corporate debt that investors won’t buy. Stocks are falling, with financial powerhouses like Bear Stearns Cos. and Blackstone Group leading the way.
The origins of the boom and this unfolding bust predate last year’s mistakes. They trace to changes in the banking system provoked by the collapse of the savings-and-loan industry in the 1980s, the reaction of governments to the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s, and the Federal Reserve’s response to the 2000-2001 bursting of the tech-stock bubble.
When the Fed cut interest rates to the lowest level in a generation to avoid a severe downturn, then Chairman Alan Greenspan anticipated that making short-term credit so cheap would have unintended consequences. “I don’t know what it is, but we’re doing some damage because this is not the way credit markets should operate”, he and a colleague recall him saying at the time.
Now the consequences of moves the Fed and others made are becoming clearer.

I started translating in 2006 as a complement to my job as an English teacher.
My main language pair is English to Spanish but, occasionally, I also translate from Spanish to English, always proofread by an English native speaker. This, together with the fact that I only accept general English projects, guarantees the quality of my translations even though it is not my mother tongue.
Besides my current specialization fields, I also have a great interest in the following: Science, Literature and Gastronomy.
Why me?
Because of my enthusiasm for the job I do, managing each project as if it were my first; because of my passion and curiosity for learning about something new every day, which makes translation highly gratifying; and because of my open, sociable and easy-going personality. I offer a personalized service, each client, like each project, is unique and that's how I approach my work, taking care of its specific needs and always available to solve any doubt or query.
If you are looking for someone absolutely committed to their job, that's me!
