I am a Belgian native French-speaking translator based in Prague, Czech Republic. I have been working with languages from about three years now, starting mainly as a French teacher and progressively sliding to professional translation, as I was feeling more and more passionate for it. In June 2007 I turned into a freelancer. At the time being, there is a series of translation, proofreading and web localization jobs I have done, customers and agencies all being satisfied. Some of them have been regularly coming back to me already.
Basically, I am a qualified and experienced sound engineer, having worked at the Belgian national radio for several years (RTBF / Classic 21), and sometimes mixing a concert or recording a music demo. I began as an Acoustical Designer at Philips Speaker Systems, and I am used to accurate processes and tight deadlines. I also play the drums and some other instruments a little, and compose music on my computer. I have studied music theory for 5 years. Music and Sound are my first specialities.
Because I am curious and like variety, I can offer you translation jobs in different fields. To have a better idea of the fields I am working in, just have a look at my ProZ profile, "specialities" section.
My passion for languages and technology (through an advanced use of the computer, amongst other things), combined with my skills linked to the Sound field (being creative, analytic, accurate, ...), give me the ability to produce quality translation and proofreading jobs. I make use of a CAT tool called OmegaT, which is useful when the terminology must be specific or evenly distributed across the text. It also helps me to be efficient when many repetitions occur in the text. Since very recently, my target texts in French are only one inch away from perfection, whether they are the result of translation or proofreading. This is possible thanks to a very powerful piece of software called Antidote (by Druide).
I have a strong sense of ethic and respect, and stick to my commitments. As I am still rather new to the translation business, I wish to offer you competitive and negotiable rates... which doesn't mean the quality is bad – on the contrary!
A few examples of what I am good at (and enjoy doing): user manuals, website localization, product descriptions, texts related to tourism or new technologies.
