Bio


I am a freelance French to
English translator and my main specialization is translation of texts that
focus on arts and letters, including the subject of folklore and the culinary
arts.


I launched my freelance translation career after numerous successful years of teaching art history and film. I have tutored youth and adults in French.   I have done extensive writing in French and English and during a period of 8 years of homeschooling, I received a vast education in English language literature. 

 

I have read (both in French and in English translation) numerous works of literature, including texts by Molière, Camus, and Collette. In addition to the ability to read in English, French, Italian and Spanish, I can read a great deal of Portuguese, Catalan, and Romansch, and I know some basic German.  

 

I am familiar with theFrancophone world.  In addition to France and Haiti, I have studied Belgium, French Canada, francophone Italy, and French Switzerland. Although I am not a native speaker of French, I am evenly

bilingual. I have experience with old French and with different varieties of spoken French and the lexical differences among them.  

 

I greatly enjoy translating and hope to work with you.
