English to Malay: The Acceptance of e-learning among ESL Primary School Students During Covid-19 General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English The integration of ICT has transformed the Malaysian education system by reshaping the landscape of education, from teacher-centred to learner-centred education. However, the COVID-19 crisis has changed the landscape of the education system drastically. The educators have turned their focus on online learning as an alternative means to replace the face-to-face classroom. Therefore, this paper focuses on the investigation on the perception towards e-learning among ESL primary school students. This study also determined the level of acceptance towards e-learning. A set of questionnaires was distributed via Google Form to 100 upper primary students in Sibu, Sarawak. The results revealed that the perception towards e-learning was positive, and the level of e-learning acceptance among ESL primary school students was high due to its features of e-learning, such as flexibility, user-friendliness, and the students’ attitude towards using as well as the intention to use in the future. It was recommended that teachers should utilize student-friendly digital tools to deliver their teaching and learning materials so that the students, especially at the primary level find it easy and enjoy learning English via e-learning.
Translation - Malay Integrasi ICT telah mengubah sistem pendidikan Malaysia dengan membentuk semula landskap pendidikan, daripada pendidikan berpusatkan guru kepada pendidikan berpusatkan murid. Walau bagaimanapun, krisis COVID-19 telah mengubah landskap sistem pendidikan secara drastik. Para pendidik telah beralih fokus kepada pembelajaran dalam talian sebagai alternatif untuk menggantikan pembelajaran secara bersemuka. Oleh itu, artikel ini mengkaji persepsi murid sekolah rendah ESL terhadap e-pembelajaran, dan kajian ini juga menentukan tahap penerimaan murid terhadap e-pembelajaran. Borang soal selidik telah diedarkan secara atas talian (melalui Google Fom) kepada 100 murid sekolah rendah tahap dua di Sibu, Sarawak. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa persepsi terhadap e-pembelajaran adalah positif, dan tahap penerimaan e-pembelajaran dalam kalangan murid sekolah rendah ESL adalah tinggi disebabkan oleh beberapa ciri-ciri e-pembelajaran, seperti fleksibiliti, mesra pengguna, dan sikap murid terhadap penggunaan serta tujuan untuk menggunakan pada masa hadapan. Guru-guru dicadangkan menggunakan alat digital yang mesra pengguna untuk menyampaikan pengajaran dan bahan pembelajaran mereka kepada murid-murid terutamanya di peringkat sekolah rendah agar murid-murid berasa mudah dan dapat menikmati keseronokan belajar Bahasa Inggeris melalui e-pembelajaran.
