Source text - French Et puis… Votre monde s’arrête de tourner rond… Ton monde s’écroule Blandine… Comment être heureuse alors que le premier homme de ta vie vient de te quitter, de vous quitter… Cette période fut une épreuve dont tu as eu du mal à te relever… Pour toi aussi Darren c’est dur… Mais tu es à ses côtés… Alors Blandine tu as tenu bon… Il a ramené de la vie et de l’amour, là où tu ne pensais plus jamais en avoir…
Tu te souviens que ton papa avait dit : « Darren ne m’a pas demandé ta main, mais s’il la demande je lui donne »… Toute jeune fille rêve que son amoureux soit à la hauteur de son papa… et avec Darren c’était le cas !
Je suis certaine qu’il vous regarde aujourd’hui et qu’il doit être fier… et si en son hommage, lui le monsieur au grand cœur… On applaudissait bien fort… Pour qu’il fasse la fête avec nous parmi les étoiles.
Translation - English And then, Blandine’s world was turned upside down with the loss of her father. How can you be happy when the first man in your life had just left you. This was an ordeal from which you struggled to recover. It was hard for you as well, Darren. But you were by her side and Blandine, you stood strong. Darren brought back life and love where you never thought you’d have any again.
You remember what your Dad said: “Darren hasn’t asked for your hand, but if he does, I will give it to him!” It’s every young girl’s dream that the love of her life will measure up to her Dad, and with Darren, that was definitely the case!
I’m certain that he is watching over you and is proud of you. In his memory, let’s give him a big round of applause knowing that today, he will be partying with us among the stars.
I'm Charlotte, an enthusiastic linguist and self-confessed "word-nerd" with a keen interest in literary translation, creative writing, and audiovisual translation.
As a native English speaker, I mainly specialize in translations from French into English, although I am also comfortable and more than happy to translate in the other direction if needed!

💡 I'm actively working towards full ITI membership, demonstrating my commitment to keeping my finger on the pulse and constantly improving my skills so I’m able to consistently deliver the translations you deserve.
📚 I'm currently broadening my language skills in my spare time by sharpening up my Mandarin and learning Italian (Word-nerd, remember?🤓).
💻 I've also acquired useful practical skills with tools including SDL Trados, SubtitleEdit and WinCaps.
📸 Outside of academia, I've gained practical experience in hospitality and customer service roles, predominantly in tourist-heavy locales. These experiences have allowed me to sharpen my communication skills and aid in conversations where English is not the customer’s first language.
