Bio
Allow me to propose myself as the translator you are
looking for.
Main reasons thai I am a favorable fit for job is that;
1) I am a native Dane who works with language,
composing texts and proofreading/editing.
2) I can research and resolve how to translate key
terms if needed, due to my occupation as a (scientific)researcher.
3) I really like to translate. I enjoy identifying the
exact words that can capture the accuracy of the translation in the best
possible way.
Background
I am a geographer (Natural Sciences), which is something most people have never
heard of despite it being the coolest thing you can ever be. In short it means,
that I deal with anything from climate change and landscape development to
cultural and economic changes both globally and locally.
I have a genuine and neerdy interest in socio-ecological effects of natural
resource use and scarcity, stakeholder involvement and (tropical) rural
livelihoods and it is my great great wish, one day, to be able to write longer
features about this.
What I can do
I am in the process of establish myself as a self-employed freelance
analyst and scientific researcher. My academic training has provided me with
considerable expertise in research, in situ fieldwork, data collection/management
and qualitative/quantitative interviews. Translation has always been a
substantial part of these tasks and therefore, it is now one of my main
occupations, while I do proofreading and editing on the side.
Writing
I am very fond of writing. I use my own interest in, and fascination of,
the given subject and I often apply my geographical background in viewing the
world and the people in it. My goal is to create stories and pictures which
sets something in motion for the reader. Additionally, I am a co-editor on a small popular science magazine -
Geografisk Orientering - published 5 times a year approaching different themes.
I am transparent about my capabilities (“Yes, I can do this in that
timeframe”), open about my availability (“I’ll be gone for the month”) and, if
any, honest about my mistakes.
