Bio

Throughout my life, I have invested quite a lot of time in the study of languages. We live in a world where audiovisual products are being generated and diffused at an unprecedented speed. Therefore, a high-quality translation represents the core of a clear and transparent communication for modern society. It has always helped to reduce communication barriers by facilitating comprehension. A good translation is the key to communication. I wholeheartedly believe that companies should do their best to break down language barriers and let their audiences, regardless of their nationality, enjoy the products they offer. I am aware that in order to achieve this objective, special care and attention must be given to the form and quality of translation. As a language lover and translator, I do believe that I have the capabilities needed.

Many of my educational and professional experiences have been focused on this goal. I recently earned a master's degree from the University of Granada in Audiovisual and Accessible Translation. My experience in the program led to an increased passion for the localization field and subtitling. I decided to start as a volunteer by subtitling videos on the TED digital platform. I often used style guides from big companies and learned how to handle different formats. I had the opportunity to take part in several projects where I was responsible for managing both individual work and group work. I was also in charge of a documentary, where I handled both translation and subtitling. As I experimented subtitling from a linguistic standpoint as well, I learned to work creatively and developed innovative translation solutions wherever possible. I took part in an internship which gave me the opportunity to get hands-on experience with dubbing and voice-overs. During this, I handled language and sound adjustment. I have dealt with transcreation and advertising translation, and I am aware of the importance of cultural and sensory adaptation and how it can affect the perception of a product. I worked on a project for people with disabilities and understood the importance of conveying messages clearly and transparently. On this occasion, I had the opportunity to get in touch with members of the ONCE collective, the Organización Nacional Ciegos de España, whose main goal is social inclusion through accessibility. I realized that languages and the way they are used are an extremely powerful means of inclusion, providing people with equality and a sense of belonging. They are fundamental to the creation of a community and the basis for it to continue to grow.

As a whole, my experiences so far have taught me the importance of the use of words and how they should be transmitted. I truly believe that I have the necessary qualities to become one of the voices contributing to building a more conscious world.
