⁉️ How many times have you heard that “machine translation tools will replace the human mind”? Well, not in the next hundred years for sure, and I’m here to prove this statement wrong because there is nothing like the unique pinch of creativity a professional translator puts in their work. ✨
I took my first steps as a translator back in 2018 and have only kept climbing that ladder ever since. Started off as a subtitler and found my passion for marketing-related texts and gained some copywriting experience on the way. 👩🏻💻
Doing things for a reason is what I stand by. I help others overcome the language barrier by traveling with words (in English, Spanish and Latvian), which is why I find it crucial to always have the target audience in the picture (read as: in mind). When working with marketing texts for websites and social media, you cannot forget the importance of choosing the best-performing yet context-matching SEO keywords. 🧠
Currently, I work full-time at Bonami, an online store, where I translate and localize all things interior design. Apart from that, I work on various other translation projects in the marketing field:
🔸 On a daily basis I proofread IT-related marketing texts on printers and printing services. 🔸 I regularly take up translation projects (EN>ES) for a Latvian time-tracking solution and localize automated emails, as well as website and social media content. 🔸 I proofread UX copy for an open banking solution app.
And that is not it. 💼 Some of my responsibilities @ Bonami:
• Translate SEO-friendly content from English to Latvian using Google Ads Keyword Planner • Localize inspirational articles for the Latvian market. Feel free to check them out here: https://www.bonami.lv/raksti-un-iedvesmas • Ensure that the copy (and microcopy) on the web, social media (Facebook & Instagram), and newsletters is country-oriented, relevant, and speaks to the local customers • Come up with creative copy solutions and transcreations to attract more clients • Post-edit the machine translation of product names and descriptions • Make sure the written content for social media is catchy, easy to read, and concise
Back in 2021 I also gained valuable experience during a traineeship at the European Court of Auditors. I translated ECA audit documents (such as reports and press releases) concerning different topics: e-waste, space assets, financial instruments, forestry, etc, as well as created a termbase on disinformation. All the translations were carried out using SDL Trados Studio 2019.
🎓 I hold a bachelor's degree in European Languages and Cultures (English & Spanish), as well as a master's degree in translation of LSP (non-literary) texts. Some of the classes I took:
