Source text - English Nikita Dhawan, a 16-year-old youth activist and founder of animal welfare group Youth For Animals, along with its co-founder Nandika Karunakaram, has started a petition on Change.org to free an elephant living in the Delhi zoo.
The elephant named Shankar, according to the petition, has been living in isolation for years and is distressed. He is chained for 17 hours of the day and doesn’t have enough space to move around when he is let out. The petition demands that Shankar be removed from the zoo and rehabilitated in a wildlife sanctuary that houses other African elephants.
Shankar wasn’t always alone. Until 2005, he had a companion.
t was in 1998, two young elephants were captured from the wilderness in southern Africa and sent to India as a diplomatic gift from Zimbabwe to then Indian president Shankar Dayal. They were named Shankar and Bombai, who began living at the National Zoological Park in Delhi.
Bombai died in 2005 and according to the petition Shankar has lived alone in captivity at the zoo since then.
Last year in August, Nikita saw 26-year-old Shankar at the zoo, who had chains around his legs and was living alone in a dismal enclosure.
“Shankar is chained for 17 hours of the day and does not have adequate space to move around when he is let out. Much like humans, elephants are social beings and suffer neurological distress when put in solitary confinement. Shankar constantly demonstrates stereotypical behaviour like swaying and head-bobbing, a key sign of distress. In fact, Shankar's aggressive behaviour has necessitated the zoo authorities to permanently close the viewing pathway since he could be a danger to visitors,” reads the petition.
So far 1,34,657 people have signed the petition.

Hello.
I'm formed at Wizards, Language School, in English at 2012, and in Italian at 2021. My ongoing English Language and Literatures at UERJ undergraduate course has started in 2021, and I completed my third semester, which trains my reading, listening and writing in English considerably. My undergraduate in Biological Sciences was taken between 2011-2016 and helped me to translate biomedical papers and other documents more properly, because of it I worked with English academic papers, and I became familiar with them. I have made mentorships to upgrade my translation knowledge. I have an ongoing course at post-graduate in English Translations at Estácio de Sá.
My areas and experience are: academic translation regarding scientific articles, civil engineering academic paper in the language pair EN>PT-BR. Poetic texts, by a client who sent me to work over a year, it was to feel the tone of the text and carry it on with the words, in the language pair EN>PT-BR. A challenge here was to feel like a part of translating courses about clinical data, epidemiology, and paleontology of marine reptiles at Coursera, all in the language pair EN>PT. I am also Working with Olhar Animal, an Animal Activism ORG, language pair EN>PT that demands me juridical and biological technic words. In addition, I translated for TED (and still translate for them) a video about art and its impact, IT>PT. I also worked for SP Traduções translating certificates and for RAtranslations/projetospt reviewing Italian's civil/mechanical engineering texts.
My rate is per word and the same for Euro and Dollar. In Italian into Portuguese, and English into Portuguese.
