Source text - English SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
THIS SAFETY MANUAL PROVIDES GENERAL SAFETY PRINCIPLES FOR OPERATION OF MACHINERY. IN ALL CASES, THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE APPLICABLE SAFETY LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED. WHERE THE APPLICABLE SAFETY LEGISLATION OR REGULATIONS CONFLICT WITH ANYTHING IN THIS MANUAL, THE LEGISLATION OR REGULATIONS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED. FURTHER, THIS SAFETY MANUAL MUST BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH YOUR COMPANY’S COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY AND PROCEDURE.
EACH MACHINE COMES WITH ITS OWN SPECIFIC OPERATING AND SAFETY RULES AND PROCEDURES. PERSONS OPERATING THE MACHINE MUST REVIEW THOSE RULES AND PROCEDURES IN DETAIL BEFORE OPERATING THE MACHINE.
PURCHASERS, USERS, OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL, CONTRACTORS, THEIR EMPLOYEES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ARE WARNED THAT ALL MACHINERY IS DANGEROUS.
NO PERSON SHOULD EVER BE PERMITTED TO WORK ON, OR NEAR ANY MACHINERY UNTIL HE/SHE HAS BEEN ADEQUATELY WARNED OF THE HAZARDS INVOLVED AND ADEQUATELY INSTRUCTED AND TRAINED BY HIS/HER EMPLOYER, AND HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND OTHER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.
SAFETY is a basic factor that must be considered at all times in the installation, operation, and maintenance of any machinery. Do not use any equipment which is found to be in an unsafe condition until it is repaired by trained maintenance personnel. An accident is usually caused by someone’s carelessness, negligence, or lack of understanding of the equipment and its operation. Failure to observe the precautions outlined here and in the service instructions may result in serious bodily injury, accidental death, or property damage.
One important fact to note is that no set of instructions can anticipate all the situations that may arise. Constant alertness is a prerequisite for working around any machinery, and any abnormal performance of the equipment should be immediately reported to supervisory personnel.
1. TRAINED PERSONNEL
Manufacturers build into their equipment a number of provisions for safer operation and durability. However, the effectiveness of these provisions requires intelligent use and maintenance by responsible personnel. The most important factor of safe and efficient equipment operation and maintenance is well-trained personnel.
Many accidents occur as a result of inexperienced or unknowledgeable personnel operating the equipment. Written safety programs and formal instruction are essential. Special emphasis should be given to machinery that is installed to start remotely or automatically.
