Bio

Translating is about preserving the content of the source text while presenting it in a way that is effortlessly accessible for the target readers.

Therefore, during the translation process both content-related as well as cultural aspects have to be kept in mind. “Cultural” can refer to a national culture, but any group of enthusiasts or experts in a certain field can form their proper culture. The translator must be aware of that target culture – and use this culture’s terminology and phraseology.

Owing to my engineering education at the University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe, Germany, and several years of engineering practice in research, I quickly apprehend the content of a broad range of technical texts. Additionally, I was introduced to the art of translation and developed my abilities in translational practice during my translation studies at the University of Leipzig, Germany. I have now over five years of experience in working as a freelance translator.

Encountering people from various nationalities and with different backgrounds whilst attending engineering schools, but also taking courses at classically-orientated teaching institutions, working at a multi-national research institute and taking part in manifold international exchange programs in many different countries, including France, Scotland, Brazil and Ivory Coast, have given me the opportunity to acquire and deepen my cultural competence.

This expertise enables me to offer a qualified translation service for technical documents, especially in the field of energy/power generation.
