I acquired knowledge of medical terminology while teaching English at the Faculty of Medicine in Martin. Translating the papers for my colleagues at the faculty encouraged me to move in a new direction.
Besides medicine, I am interested in cognitive translatology and the related branches of linguistics and psychology. While doing my Master´s studies, I discovered that brain functioning and information processing during reading fascinates me. This lead me to enroll in a course of psycholinguistics at a summer school at the University in Utrecht. Later, as I was researching my dissertation thesis topic, I returned to add to my knowledge of reading processes using an eye-tracking method.
As a mentor, I am involved in the continuous professional development of medical translators and teachers of medical English. I am a board member in the following: - The Slovak Society of Translators of Scientific and Technical Literature (SSPOL) - European Association of Language Teachers for Healthcare (EALTHY)
My passion for traveling goes well with attending international conferences and networking with colleagues from around the world.
