My name is Letícia de Aquino Silva da Silva, I am 42 years old, I have a degree in English and a Certificate in Translation Studies. I have been working as an English teacher in Brazil for over 15 years and although I have frequently done some translation jobs, only in 2014, after falling in love with the peculiarities of translation, I decided to change priorities and work as a full-time translator. The topics for translation I like include fashion, tourism, cinema and music. I also like working with audiovisual translation. When I am not working, I enjoy travelling and I have been to the UK three times. I took a course on Materials Development at UCL IOE in London in 2011 and had a wonderful time there. I also fancy roller-skating, going to the theatre and listening to music. In the short run, I intend to keep on working as a translator instead of as a teacher, since that is what really makes me happy in terms of career, and to travel back to Europe soon, especially London because, like Samuel Johnson once said, “when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life”.
