My name is Julija Dornik and I am a Master of Science of Arab World Studies, Ethnologist and Cultural Anthropologist and a native Slovenian freelance translator who speaks seven languages, but professionally works between English, Slovenian and Arabic. How I got into this business

As I come from the field of humanities and social sciences, my main interests lie in politics, international and intercultural relations and anthropology and my previous employment consisted of work in cultural institutions, non-profitable organizations and, interestingly enough, a law firm. As an avid linguist and a lover of languages, I notice too often people hitting a wall when trying to understand each other. This does not relate merely to not understanding foreign languages, but to understanding foreign cultures and habits and it often happens among people who speak the same language as well. Breaking down these walls and helping people understand each other has always been my interest and it has become my mission. The basic and only unit with which we can start this process is the word. And from there on come translation, interpretation and mutual understanding.
