Source text - English The Church as an organization has a lot of power over many people in the world, now and in the past. But this power is based on the faith they have in certain beliefs, like the birth of Jesus from a Virgin Mary or the Resurrection of Christ. Now, all of these beliefs come from the most important book for Christians: The Holy Bible. But as Dan Brown said in his book The Da Vinci Code (2003) “The Bible did not arrive by fax from heaven…The Bible is the product of man, not of God. It did not fall magically from the clouds. Man created it as a historical record of tumultuous times, and it has evolved through countless translations, additions, and revisions. History has never had a definitive version of the book.” (pg. 293) So, what does this mean for the people who have faith in those stories? Well, first of all, that because it was made by humans it contains lots of mistakes, but, more importantly, that sometimes these stories were twisted and changed into something else by those with other interests. Most of the times, changes were made by members of the Church: they edited The Bible and also many historical records that showed the activities they did that were not allowed by their religion, to hide them just so that they could stay in power and control their followers.
Translation - Spanish La iglesia, como organización, tiene un gran poder sobre muchas personas en el mundo, tanto en la actualidad como en el pasado. Pero este poder se basa en su fe sobre ciertas creencias, como el nacimiento de Jesús de la Virgen María o la resurrección de Cristo. Ahora, todas estas creencias son provenientes del libro más importante para los cristianos: La Santa Biblia. Pero tal como Dan Brown mencionó en su libro El Código Da Vinci (2003) “La Biblia no llegó a la tierra por fax… La Biblia es producto del Hombre, no de Dios. No cayó mágicamente de las nubes. Fue creada por el hombre como recuerdo de tiempos confusos y ha evolucionado a través de incontables traducciones, adiciones y revisiones. La historia nunca tendrá una versión definitiva de este libro”. Entonces, ¿Cuál es el significado de esto para las personas que creen en estas historias? Bueno, primero que nada, solo por el hecho de haber sido escrita por seres humanos, contiene muchos errores, pero más importante aún, en varias ocasiones estas historias fueron tergiversadas y cambiadas en versiones diferentes para adaptarse a los intereses de unos pocos. La mayoría de las veces, estos cambios fueron hechos por miembros de la Iglesia: editaron la Biblia y muchos registros históricos que demostraban que sus actividades no estaban permitidas por su propia religión, escondiéndolos para mantenerse en el poder y contralar a sus seguidores.
