I am a native speaker of British English with more than ten years of experience in editing, proofreading and translating from German, Italian and French. I am also a qualified teacher of modern languages. Between 2008 and 2011 I spent three years at the head office of a global banking group based in Germany, and I have in-house experience with a technical translation and localisation agency in Berlin.

Experience

My main fields of expertise are education, marketing, advertising, corporate design, business reports, banking and finance, general business texts, internal communications and staff training. Additionally, I have a keen interest in renewable energy, environmental protection, natural history and life sciences as well as hospitality, tourism, music and literature. I also deal frequently with technical documentation and health care.

Qualifications

I hold a masters degree (distinction) in translation and creative writing and a first-class undergraduate degree in modern languages (German and Italian with a module in advanced French for business and current affairs) as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Additionally, I am a published author and editor of language learning material (stories, grammar exercises, vocabulary cards and textbooks) for students of English.

I adhere to the Institute of Translation and Interpreting Code of Conduct.


My approach to translation is to create a text that does not read like a translation. Even if you require something very literal, I will do my best to make the English sound natural. Register, idiom and style are just as important as the content, and I will always offer alternative translations where appropriate (e.g. headlines and slogans).


I am flexible with my capacity and always deliver by the agreed deadline.
