English to Portuguese: Messy Room (by Shel Silverstein) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Messy Room (by Shel Silverstein)
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater's been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or--
Huh? You say it's mine? Oh, dear,
I knew it looked familiar!
Hein? Você disse que é de minha autoria?
Sabia que o conhecia!
English to Portuguese: When I was one-and-twenty... (by A. E. Housman) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English When I was one-and-twenty
I heard a wise man say,
'Give crowns and pounds and guineas
But not your heart away;
Give pearls away and rubies
But keep your fancy free.'
But I was one-and-twenty,
No use to talk to me.
When I was one-and-twenty
I heard him say again,
'The heart out of the bosom
Was never given in vain;
'Tis paid with sighs a plenty
And sold for endless rue.'
And I am two-and-twenty,
And oh, 'tis true, 'tis true.
Translation - Portuguese Quando eu tinha uns "vinte-e-pouco"
Quando eu tinha uns "vinte-e-pouco"
Ouvi um homem sábio dizer,
"Dê coroas e moedas e oferendas
Mas não vá deseu coração se desfazer;
Dê perolas e porcos
Fique livre do fútil".
Mas eu tinha uns "vinte-e-pouco",
Falar comigo era inútil.
Quando eu tinha uns "vinte-e-pouco"
Ouvi o mais uma vez sincero,
"o coração fora do âmago
Nunca dado por falta de esmero;
É pago com tantos suspiros roucos
E vendido a um lamento derradeiro
E agora tenho uns "vinte-e-mais-um-pouco"
Tão verdadeiro, tão verdadeiro
Portuguese to English: Scaffolding (Seamus Heaney) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - Portuguese
Masons, when they start upon a building,
Are careful to test out the scaffolding;
Make sure that planks won't slip at busy points,
Secure all ladders, tighten bolted joints.
And yet all this comes down when the job's done,
Showing off walls of sure and solid stone.
So if, my dear, there sometimes seem to be
Old bridges breaking between you and me
Never fear. we may let the scaffolds fall
Confident that we have built our wall.
Translation - English Andaimes
Mãos a obra. Começa a construção,
Andaimes apostos, não há obstrução;
Certificando-se que o suporte de sustento,
Firmando escadas e parafusos, bem atento.
Ainda assim, tudo é desmontado ao final,
Dando vista à parede espinal.
Então, meu bem, se algo parece estar cedendo
As velhas pontes não têm mais firmamento
Não tema. Mesmo se o andaime cair
Sabemos que o muro não irá ruir.

I just got my Bachelor's Degree on Translation/Interpretation, and now I'm trying to make way in to this field.
So far, I have mostly worked as an english teacher, although I've had some few freelancer jobs. I also have some experience I've acquired from college studies.
If I'm given an opportunity, I will do my best to succeed in it.
