I am an Italian freelance translator in possession of the Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages for the International Communication. After graduating in March 2008, I carried out two E.U. financed trainings which took place in Spain – at the International Relations Office of the University of Granada – and in Sweden – inside the EVS project. In the meantime, I have started and carried on my job as a freelance translator for some important companies in the province of Vicenza and for some translation agencies. I have mainly accomplished for them technical (industrial compressors, hydraulic filters, solar panels, etc.), trade (business letters, purchase orders, requests for partnership, staff mapping, etc.), economic and literary (poems and comics) translations. Since the requests for working cooperation have become more and more frequent, I have been able to perfect the knowledge and methodology learnt during the academic years. Moreover, I have taken a deep interest in new computer resources and in CAT tools. Among the latter, I already have absolute familiarity with SDL Trados 2007 and SDLX, which I use in parallel with all Office programs. Furthermore, I have at my disposal a wide range of sector-based dictionaries (technical, economic, medical, etc.). The areas of specialization are quite heterogeneous. If it is true that so far I have devoted myself to trade, marketing or technical translations as well as to translations in the HR field, it is also true that during my training “pathway” I have translated both in the scientific area (scientific articles, technical textbooks on engineering, economic and financial essays, etc.) and in the humanistic one (literature, history, geography, tourist and social sciences, etc.). Thus the fact that I have increased my work experience in the trade, marketing and technical field doesn’t necessarily exclude my expertise even in the other sectors of my professional formation. In addition to Italian, the working languages are English, Spanish, French and Swedish, from and into Italian.
