Japanese to English: Defining Fine Art General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Source text - Japanese
Translation - English Defining Fine Art
The primitive cave paintings of Lascaux seemed to be created for a supernatural purpose. Primitive human beings were able to skillfully capture shapes and images resembling cows. Using everyday tools in this way was a significant departure from their practical use. These were the first documented pieces in art history. Art has developed alongside many religions. Today, a sense of independence from religion has shaped individual expression.
Fine art is one area of the arts. Art is defined by an artist's self-expression, someone who deeply senses emotions and appreciates how they change. Above all, a person uses that self-expression to engage viewers and capture their imagination. How this is composed and what process is used is art. An artist is someone who appreciates and tries to communicate the subject matter's content, beliefs, ideas, feelings, and different emotions.
