LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this training, you will be able to use Wordfast Classic to:
1. Translate, edit and proofread MS Word documents
2. Create a glossary and add terminology to it during a translation session
3. Import glossaries from Excel or Word files
4. Clean-up a document
5. Analyze a document before quoting for time management
6. Use placeables
7. Customize your configuration
8. Run a concordance (context) search across one or several translation memories
9. Integrate machine translation into your workflow | Language: | English | Summary: | This training will be devoted to setting up and using the general features of Wordfast Classic. A workflow approach from translation quoting to delivery will be used and practical exercises will focus on creating and using glossaries and translation memories, as well as handling references. Time permitting, we'll learn how to create a translation memory from past translations using the alignment function of PlusTools. |

Description E-learning modules to be completed during the week before the training (4 hours):
- Why use CAT tools?
- Segmentation, Translation Memory, additional functions
- Downloading and installing Wordfast Classic
- Troubleshooting
- Creating a translation memory
- Creating a glossary
In-person training (6 hours):

First translation session:
- How to create a translation memory (TM), description of an open segment, protecting delimiters, closing a translation session, resuming a translation session, return to the previous segment, cancel a segment, force segmentation, copy the source segment, expand/shrink segments, provisional segments, revising a segmented document

13:40 -16:50
Cleaning up your document after translating:
- Usual option (“Tools” tab in the WF interface) - clean-up report, simple option (“Quick-clean” icon in the Wordfast toolbar), creating a report folder
Analysis functions:
- Preview, analyze a document, understand the results of an analysis
Handling placeables:
- Preview, selecting placeables, copying placeables, customizing placeables
Terminology management:
- Preview, glossaries, creating a glossary, opening an existing glossary, using a glossary, insert the target word , open the glossary editor with a word selected, open a glossary scroll-down toolbar
Glossary editor:
- Preview, import terminology, glossary editor shortcuts and methods, the Open button, the Tools button, exercises
